El Segundo Unified Program Fee Changes Reminder: ESFD Environmental Safety Division

The El Segundo City Council approved the 2023-2024 Master Fee Schedule which includes increased fees for the Environmental Safety Division effective July 21, 2023.

The existing fee structure for Environmental Safety fees is the same but will include Consumer-Priced Index changes implemented by the City on a regular basis.

Why is a Fee Adjustment Needed?

Each Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) implements a fee accountability program designed to encourage efficient and cost-effective operation of the program for which the single fee and surcharge are assessed. The Unified Program fee schedule may be adjusted by the CUPA to reflect changes in reasonable and necessary costs. The CUPA has the authority to determine the level of service it will provide and to set its fees to fund the necessary and reasonable costs of the program. More information can be found in the California Code of Regulations, Title 27, Section 15210.

The fee schedule is available with changes annually, typically in the Fall. Please check our website for updates.

What is Beach Cities CAER?

Beach Cities CAER (Community Awareness and Emergency Response) is a non-profit public benefit organization focused on providing a forum for increasing community awareness of the continuous improvement of coordinated fire department and industry emergency preparedness and response programs. BCCAER is a team of public agency emergency management officials, fire departments, schools, manufacturing industries and chemical transporters in the South Bay region with the goal of enhancing public safety.
