Open Housestudents raise their hands to ask questions at a fire station visit

Open House is a day when we open up the doors of our fire station to the public and invite the community to come and see what we do!  Get a tour of our fire station and check out the fire engines and trucks up close. We also have music, food and activities for kids. Our next Open House will be in Spring 2026.

Pancake Breakfast cartoon image of pancakes on a fire engine

We host an annual pancake breakfast that first began to honor and assist our brothers and sisters in New York City who gave the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Firefighters prepare pancakes and bacon and accept donations with all proceeds going to help local charities in El Segundo. This event would not be possible without the generous donations of food and/or supplies by our local businesses. This annual event typically happens on the Saturday closest to September 11th

Spark of Love Toy Drive

El Segundo Firefighters and local businesses will join together to collect new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for underserved children and teens here in El Segundo and throughout the South Bay. For more than 30 years, the Spark of Love Toy Drive has successfully collected and distributed more than nine million toys. The “Spark of Love Toy Drive” takes place in November thru December every year. With love and support of donors and sponsors, kids across Southern California receive a new toy each holiday season.

Emergency Preparedness Day with Firefighter and TruckEmergency Preparedness Day

The first 60 minutes after a disaster are critical for survival. Everyone should have a plan. Preparation may help save lives. In a large disaster, emergency services will be overwhelmed. Education and preparedness help residents and business to plan ahead. Learn suggested supplies for food, water, pet supplies, First-Aid supplies, etc., at home, in the car, and at the office. We also provide a brief training in how to shut off gas, water and electricity at your residence following a disaster. This is also a great opportunity to sign up for Everbridge, our emergency notification system and explore opportunities to become a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member.
