History:

The Paramedic transport billing program was originally set up August 01, 1987 through Resolution 3477 and performed by Finance personnel.  At the time the resolution also adopted a paramedic transport fee for non-resident transports.  Due to the changes within the healthcare industry and the City’s ability to acquire and maintain expertise to process insurance claims, it was recommended to outsource these services.  The City of El Segundo currently outsources all transport billing to Wittman Enterprises.

Rates:

The transport fees the City utilizes are in alignment with Los Angeles County's General Public Ambulance Rates.  Wittman utilizes these rates to bill customers and their insurance companies.   These fees are updated annually and in alignment with Resolution 5001.  Also, the City has a resident program and waives the co-pay normally collected through the billing and insurance process.
